The Ken Blanchard Companies were facing a real dilemma: When you are the top motivational consulting firm in the world, where do you go for awards that truly represent the unique culture, values and heritage of your company? CEO, Tom McKee, approached Dan Evers of Farallon Design to come up with a solution. The Ken Blanchard Companies' Founding associates, Margie Blanchard and Pat Zigarmi worked closely with Dan to evaluate design ideas and contribute history and background. The teamwork was outstanding, and the final designs were approved in a meeting at KBC corporate headquarters in Escondido last November.

It was decided that they required two separate awards; the "Orca" award to honor those with twenty or more years of working with KBC, and the "Founders Award" to honor the "original nine" who shared a common dream twenty five years ago. Over the years, this award will be given as recognition to people inside and outside the company who have made great humanitarian contributions. Presentations were made on February the eleventh, 2004 at a fabulous 25th company birthday party at the Mission Bay Hilton. To say that the recipients were overwhelmed is an understatement. Farallon associates, Brian Evers and Yesenia Aceves along with president Dan Evers were present to see the "excitement on their faces". That really is thegreatest reward.
